Partner Fluency Poem for Poetry Month!

23 Apr

State Tests… Common Core… APPR…

(Sigh)

Over the past few weeks, I’ve drifted away from my regular routines (especially in the area of fluency!), but now that the testing is almost over, I can start getting back into my normal program with my reading friends!

Here is a fun FLUENCY poem I whipped up for students to try out in partners! Inspired by my recent trip to Austin, TX, “Rodeo Champion” is perfect for working on character expression, voice, and perspective. I plan to use this with my second graders next week, and I think they will really get into the different characters and voices. Depending on how it goes, I hope to make a few more partner poems before the end of the year!

I’m offering this fun poem for FREE to my blog readers! Feel free to download and use it with your students for Poetry Month. (5/4/13: I updated the file to include two versions of the poem with different fonts. If you downloaded it in April, the old links are still active and work!)

If you’re interested in activities that go with this poem, consider purchasing the whole packet, available at my TpT store. (Click link below!)
